Well hi there! Thank you for visiting our new webpage. My name is Julia, otherwise known as Jam Lady Junior. You might recognize me from the picture on our label. There's a more recent picture next to our sign in the summer of 2018.
For those of you who aren't familiar with us, we are The Jam Lady. We have been in business for over 200 years, starting in the late 1800's selling jams and jellies on a little table on the side of the road in Phoenix, MI. We have had our storefront in Eagle River since the 1950's. My grandparents Florence and John Mihelcich converted what was once a post office into our storefront which we still operate in today.
Florence expanded the business from a few wild berry products into a wide array of jams and jellies. With John beside her to help every step of the way, together they built a strong business that focused on a quality product, no matter the cost.
My father, Paul, began to learn the recipes as they grew older. Eventually he stepped in to take over The Jam Lady in the early 2000's. All of his children, family members, and friends have lent a hand in our business over the years. He created new products and a new product line, syrups, since owning the business.
Today we continue to grow. We supply several stores across the North Central Upper Peninsula and ship all over the world. We have won three awards for U.P. People's Choice Award "Best Jam" for Thimbleberry Jam and Cherry Rhubarb Jam and "Best Jelly" for Thimbleberry Jelly in 2001. We have been featured in the Detroit Free Press and have worked with Jilbert's Dairy.
Looking into the future, three of Paul's children hope to continue the business for years to come. Julia, Stephanee, and Paul Jr can be seen in the kitchen or in the shop to help you with anything you need.
